Tamil – Norwegian Resource Association has conducted health camp for Oslo tamils on 28.04.2018. First and second generation medical professionals from our medical unit joined to serve the people. Lot of tamils, especially elderly people could discuss their health issues in tamil and were thankful for the service. Second generation health professionals were inspired by the encouragement they got form the patients.
Staffs from Norwegian Diabetes foundation were contributed with measurement of blood glucose and distributed information materials both in Norwegian and tamil languages.
The main focus was on mental health in lectures held parallel to the clinical activity. Dr. N. Thamayanthi, Dr. B. Salih and Dr. S. Prashanthy held wonderful lectures in tamil followed by useful discussion on psychiatry disorders as depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse.
The patients came with humble requests to the health professionals to continue this service in regular basis, at least twice a year. The medical professional considering their request and this issue will be discussed in the TNRA board meeting.
TNRA and TNRA medical unit thank all the participants. We are also thanking the Norwegian Diabetes Foundation for their contribution. We express our gratitude to Mr. Vikknesh Nadesan who facilitate us with the location.
We are looking forward to continue with health seminars in Oslo in regular basis.
